I am grateful for two of the many life lessons I was taught as a youth by my parents. Two, in particular, are respect and care for those in need and feel confident and safe in the water. This is where Part of the Solution and my love of swimming began.
On October 14th, I will combine these two life lessons and embark on an exciting aquatic adventure with New York Open Water called the 20 Bridges Swim, a continuous 28-mile swim around the island of Manhattan. I have been a 'part of the solution' since 1983 and have very vivid memories of visiting the original location up on West Fordham Rd near the Major Deegan Expressway. This Deegan runs parallel to the Harlem River, which is one of the rivers I will be swimming! This will be my first marathon swim and couldn't think of a more relevant combination. With each stroke, I will reflect and pray how fortunate I am. Furthermore, I hope to inspire compassion and generosity among existing and new Part of the Solution supporters, demonstrating that together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of so many of our neighbors who rely on POTS in their times of need.
To support those in need, all money raised for this swim will go towards Part of the Solution in the Bronx. Please help support those in need so POTS can continue to have a profound impact on the lives of our brothers and sisters.
On the day of the swim, you can track my progress around Manhattan here: https://track.rs/nyow/
Thanks so much!
